Jim Bailey loves to perform and has done so for many years. He made his debut in the Las Vegas entertainment scene in 1970. He is a character actor who sings, and is still going strong thirty years later!
Jim Bailey, internationally acclaimed singer, character actor, comedian, has been spellbinding audiences for years. He has appeared in the world’s top venues including New York’s Carnegie Hall, London’s Palladium, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles, and over sixteen main showrooms in the top casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Mr. Bailey has elevated the art of character acting to heights never seen previously or since.
An accomplished singer (with an operatic background from Philadelphia Conservatory of Music), as well as a brilliant make-up artist, Mr. Bailey spends numerous hours preparing for each show. In doing so, he is able to recreate the visual presence and vocal techniques of the legendary ladies he brings to the stage. His acting skill, combined with his mastery of voice, make-up, and costumes, put him in a class all his own. The many high points of Mr. Bailey’s career include command performances for Prince Charles and Princess Diana (December 1992), H.M. Queen Elizabeth, and four U.S. Presidents. Mr. Bailey performed, in the very special recreation of the Mother and Daughter Concert, as Judy Garland alongside Liza Minnelli. Minnelli stated in the introduction that, “Angels gave [Jim] a special talent…” Another highlight includes Mr. Bailey’s performance as Barbra Streisand for Barbra Streisand, in which she led the standing ovation at the conclusion of the performance.
He has also appeared in motion pictures including, “Vultures In Paradise”, “Blind Rage”, “The Surrogate” and Woody Allen’s “Zelig”. Mr. Bailey has two best selling albums, “Jim Bailey Live At Carnegie Hall” and “Voices” which showcase his vocal talents. Mr. Bailey’s theatrical work include “Tallulah & Tennessee”, “Me And Jezebel”, “Mae West At The Club El Fey”, “Nightclub Confidential”, “Jeffrey”, “The Boyfriend”, “The Diary Of Anne Frank”, “Bells Are Ringing”, “The Cave Dwellers” and “Fragile Fire” (directed by Paul Winfield). From 1998 to 1999, Mr. Bailey performed in his theater (The Jim Bailey Theater) in Palm Springs.
Jim Bailey has received numerous awards for his artistry. These include the Peoples Choice Award, Las Vegas Performer of the Year (five time recipient), the International Press Association Award (two time recipient), the Variety Club Award, and numerous other theater awards and honors. Mr. Bailey’s charitable work includes benefits for the American Cancer Society, the Heart Fund, Multiple Sclerosis, Handicapped Children and AIDS organizations throughout the world.
